Old window re-do

I got this window, (and two others) from my brother a couple of years ago. I have been wanting old windows to re-do and decorate with. I have had a couple of ideas and finally got around to getting this one done. I didn't take before pictures, but it was an ugly brown color. I got a paint remover and removed most of the paint and sanded the rest off. I then spray painted it black and then sanded the edges. LOVE how it turned out. Recognize the "gathering room" plaque from an earlier post? Love how it goes so well together. You really can't tell in this picture, but I did leave the glass in the frame, the wreaths are sitting on the glass.
I left the hardware the way it was, I love the old rustic look.

I hammered a nail into the frame to tie my ribbon onto.

It turned out so much better than imagined. I have never re-done anything before now and I'm hooked. Tomorrow I will show you a piece of furniture I re-finished and am so excited how it turned out.

Now that I sort of know what I'm doing I can finish the other two windows that my brother gave me, which in a passing conversation I mentioned that I wanted some old windows and if he ever came across any to let me know, he just happened to have a couple. (he loves to collect junk . . one man's junk is another man's treasure! Thanks "Q" - I have a new treasure. I talked to my mom yesterday and she said he has more windows if I want them!!! Wow! The possibilities . . . Now we need to get our basement finished, so I can do more decorating, and have more walls for my new windows. Yeah!
