Block picture holder

Yesterday I gave a little hint about what the other gift that I gave my mom for mother's day (actually she is getting them this weekend) and that it involved my siblings, only they don't know anything about it. I made picture holder's for my mom to display all 21 of her grandchildren. I made each block resemble each of us kids with how many children we have, so the "M' is my oldest brother and he has four kids, therefore there are four wire picture hangers for each of his kids. So each block has the number of kids we each have, from oldest to youngest. (I hope that all made sense).
I started with a 4x4 and cut it square. I sanded each block.

Painted each block and then sanded the edges.

I bought this paper packet awhile ago and have loved it, each page has a letter of the alphabet. I bought a small packet and a 12x12 packet. This is what I used for my blocks.

This is a sample of what the paper looks like.

I cut my paper 3 x 3 and mod podged it to the block.

I then added upholstery nails to the corners of the blocks. I didn't do it in all four corners of all of the blocks, I didn't want it to look boxy. (Is that a word?) So on this one I only did two on the top corners.

This one I did all four corners.

And this one I did opposite corners.

This is what they all look like at this point.

Next I drilled a hole in the top of the block.

I then cut heavy duty wire different lengths and the curled the tops.

Using my glue gun I put glue in the hole to hold the wires.

I placed the wires in the hole and then tied a black ribbon around all of the wires.

And there it is all ready for 21 pictures of the grandchildren.

Mod Podge Easter Eggs

I needed an Easter center piece for my table and this is what I came up with.
I bought these eggs at Hobby Lobby 6/$1.00. I could have used my plastic eggs, but wanted something a little more sturdy and at that price I was excited to start my project.

These are the papers that I used for my eggs. These colors matched my table runner perfectly and the paper was more like card stock, so it left a textured look to it, which I love. If you don't like that look then go with regular paper.

I flipped my paper over and mod podge it. I found it easier than trying to hold the egg while putting on the mod podge.

Then I wrapped and trimmed the paper as needed and then mod podged the outside of the egg.

This is what they look like all finished.

I put them in a glass vase.

I love how they look with my table runner and paper carrots.

Wood Picture Blocks

This is our very first post and we are so excited to have this blog and to be creating, inspiring and having a ton of fun together. We are five sisters (three sisters and two sister-in-laws) coming together on this blog to show our creations. Most of us live in different states, we are using this blog to create together although we are miles apart. We hope you enjoy this journey with us, we are so excited to create the journey together. We named our blog "Craft Critters", since we all grew up in a small farm town in Idaho (Our sis-in-laws even grew up there). We are each a "Critter" and some of our daughters want to post and they will be "Junior Critters."
We hope you will enjoy our blog!

Now on to our first post:
These are a 4x4 bocks that I painted white and covered each side with pictures.

On the top of each block I put quotes so that the pictures wouldn't get covered when I stacked them.
