corner shelf makeover

My husband and I received some treasures from his grandma, this corner shelf being one of them. I was excited to have a corner shelf but when I saw the colors I was not sure just how excited I was. Thus, the makeover. I began with sanding some of the old paint off and discovered that it use to be another color before the blue and brown.Then I began the long task of spray painting the shelf. (I now have a sore on my finger and a numb finger tip)
And the finished project! I am excited to have this addition in my living room. It looks great along with some other black items I have. Now i just need to decorate it with some great stuff!

Kids Table and Chairs Make Over

I got the table and chair at a thrift store. It was pretty beat up, but sturdy and I knew I could make it beautiful.

I started by sanding and then spray painted it white.

Jaden was so excited to have his new table and chairs all done.

Loved how it turned out!!!!!

"New" table

When Quivon and I got married he had a brown chipped end table. We have used it and enjoyed it, but it was time for a makeover and I got brave! With two cans of spray paint we now have a "new" table!!!

Old Chair Turned into a Plant Holder

I have had this old chair that was pretty beaten up. The seat was falling of, one of the legs was falling off. But instead of throwing the chair away, I decided to make this for my front porch. And I love it! This is the old ugly chair.

Took the seat off (didn't have to do anything since it was just sitting on the chair).

I sanded and spray painted it. I then took chicken wire and placed it over the seat hole and stapled it.

I bought a coco liner and some flowers and potting soil and put together my flower pot arrangement. Placed it inside the chair and then tucked the remaining chicken wire under the already stapled wire.

Put it in it's new home, I love the bright color of the chair and the fun colors of the arrangement. I was needing something for my front porch and now I have this beauty.

Hutch makeover

I finally found a hutch that I love and re-finished it. When I bought it the hutch was white with some of the natural wood throughout the hutch, it was okay, but not my style. The hardware was brass, I took the hardware off and painted them. I accidentally deleted the before picture so all I have are the after pictures. It was a drastic change - so bummed that you can't see the before. The hutch sits in my dinning room next to a bay window and for the life of me I could not stop the glare every time I took a picture. These pictures are the best I could get and doesn't do the hutch justice. The bottom of the hutch. I love the cabinet and the drawers, can never have to much storage.

End Table makeover

I bought this end table before I bought the old stereo in this post, but was so excited to get that one done and in it's place and once I finished the old stereo and loved how great it turned out, I immediately started on this end table. It was in pretty bad shape but I loved the character of it and knew it had potential.

I didn't Like the bottom piece on it I thought it was distracting and goofy looking, so hubby took it off for me.

After the bottom piece was taken off.

I cleaned it up and only primed the top. And then painted the whole thing black.

I then sanded the edges, which I love, it brings out the detail.

Isn't it pretty? I love re-doing furniture, now I really want to find a cute hutch to make over!

My First Makeover

This is my first attempt at re-finishing a piece of furniture. I am thrilled about the results. I was a little intimidated at first, then I decided to just go for it. I payed $25.00 for this piece, I have been looking for something to go at the top of my stairs and I wasn't willing to pay anywhere from $800.00 on up. When I saw this I had a vision of how I thought it would turn out and I'm glad it did, especially since I really didn't know what I was doing.

This was an old stereo, with the insides torn out. I knocked the speaker part out and then primed the whole thing. The inside has all different kinds of wood in it and hadn't ever been finished. I wanted the inside finished, so I primed that as well. (See the end table in the background? It's next)

I painted the whole thing black.

Then I wanted to put bead board in the place where the speaker was. I waited to this last to make it easier to paint the inside of the cabinet.

Once we got the bead board installed, I painted it inside and out. Sanded the edges and screwed the lid back on. See the two holes in the front? I still need to get some kind of handles on. I haven't decided what I want yet. But other than that it is complete and I am really excited how it turned out. And I am excited to do more!
