Fabric Valentines Heart

I made this last year before my blogging days, so I will try to recreate it for you. I saw this technique done here she had made a wreath for Christmas, just using a circle for her template. We did this for our creativity class last year and thought it would be fun to do a heart for our template, it was fun to make, and the best part about it is there is no sewing.

I started by cutting my strips at 3" x 1 1/4". I cut 64 strips. This will vary depending on the size you choose to do.

Ironed them in half.

Then folded them like this.

I then took muslin and cut it big enough for a 12 x 12" frame (allow room to wrap around cardboard for framing it.) I then drew a heart on to my muslin with a pencil. I will use that for my guide to put the pieces on to form a heart.

Glue the first piece on with a hot glue gun.

Put the second piece on going the opposite direction, continuing the pattern all away around the heart. This was done in a small scale, just to give you the idea, your heart will be much larger.

Continue gluing the fabric until the heart is complete and following your pencil line as your guide.

This is what it looks like when it is done. Get a piece of cardboard and wrap the edges of the muslin around and securing with tape.

I put it in a frame that hubby made me.

And there it is a beautiful addition to my Valentine decor.
