Cabinet Door Turned into a Towel Rack

I made this towel rack for my kids' bathroom. I made it from a cabinet door!

This is the before picture - well sort of, I got so excited about this project that I forgot to take a picture of what it looked like, but this cabinet door looked exactly like the one I used for the towel rack, just a little bit different shape.

I sanded it.

Painted it and then sanded the edges of the cabinet door.

Added the knobs for the towels to hang on. I did three, since I have three kids and they will each have a place for their towel.

Hung it on the wall.

And it's ready to be used. Love how it turned out and it beats the old standard metal one that came with the house. And the fact that this project didn't cost anything, cabinet door was free and I had the knobs on hand.

  1. I just love this idea. We are moving into a house with now towel rods and I want to do this. Did you have trouble drilling the holes for the knobs?
