Game Closet Organization

So this closet organization was sooo not planned. We have a really nice closet in our family room that we use for games and activities for the kids, like puzzles, coloring books etc. But the items were falling out of the closet - the kids get in here alot and I had enough of looking at it, so on a whim I decided to take everything out of the closet and reorganize it. It was so unplanned that I forgot to take before pictures until I was almost done unloading the closet. So the next two pictures will give you a small glimpse at what it looked like before, and this was the best looking shelf out of the whole closet. SO SCARY.

And this is what it looked like spread all over the room.

Sorry about the pictures not turning out so great, I took the pictures at night and had to use a flash. The top shelf is adult games (based on age) the next two shelves are the kids' games.

I labeled each shelf and listed everything that is on the shelf in that section. I also labeled the bins.

The kids will know exactly where each item goes.

I decided to use the bins since the shelves are metal and everything falls threw the slot, we had puzzle pieces everywhere, now the bin can just be taken out and if a piece falls it will be in the bin and not falling through the slots. I tied the labels on the shelves and bins with different colored ribbon. I found the bins at the dollar store.

I love how it turned out and how organized it looks, the kids are loving it too.

This is my favorite part of the closet. The little art station, I put crayons, markers and chalk in metal buckets. The buckets and trays I found at Target's dollar bin. I still need to label the trays and I want to put vinyl on each bucket.

  3. What a great job! Our game closet looks about the same as I imagine yours did. I am so frustrated that it always looks so bad. Your redo inspires me to try again. It turned out great! Thanks for sharing.
